Galway is a young and dynamic university city, located on the Irish west coast, a three-hour drive from Dublin. It celebrated its five hundred year anniversary in 1988, but its origins are much older. The medieval part of the city has been restored and most of the streets are now for pedestrians only, lending Galway an artistic and bohemian atmosphere which attracts many young people from the whole of Ireland and Europe. Galway is also famous for being the gateway to Connemara and the impressive Moher cliffs are just a few kilometres away. Anchored in Galway Bay are the three Aran islands unique for their archeologic heritage dating from Christianity. Time seems to have stopped here where the Gaelic language still drifts from doorways into the street. In Galway you will find all the conveniences of a modern city but with the intimacy, the charms and the safety of a small town. It is liveliest in July and August thanks to numerous festivals: The Galway Film Fleadh, a celebration of Irish and international cinema, takes place at the beginning of July. The Galway Arts Festival in the last two weeks of July : this internationally known festival puts together different forms of artistic expressions; the Galway Horse Racing Festival, takes place on the first week of August and attracts horse race lovers from the whole of Ireland. But the festivities are not limited to the summer, all year long, numerous musical, dramatic and cultural events delight the inhabitants and visitors. In Galway you can also find the best restaurants in Ireland and authentic traditional pubs. The city is equipped with numerous sports facilities: golf courses, riding schools, swimming-pools and even a fishing school ( the Corrib river which crosses the city is full of salmon). Galway is doubtlessly one of the most attractive cities for the one who wants to study English in Ireland.
Euridiom invites you to discover its English school in Galway.
Atlantic language school was founded in 1993. It is located in the heart of the city, near the tourist office, bus and train stations and a few minutes away from Eyre Square, the main square in Galway, and the shopping area. It is located in a large building specially designed for the school and perfectly adapted to the language teaching. Its large curved front made of blue glass denotes a definetely modern architecture and, from the third floor’s terrace, you can enjoy a unique point of view on the city and Galway Bay.
Atlantic Language suggests to offer more than an English course : its goal is to make students experience Irish conviviality and welcoming. Thus, teachers and staff members show a large availability and take part in the school life and the various activities with the students.
Teachers are all university teachers with the T.E.F.L. They are experienced and most of them have already taught abroad. The Studies Director, thanks to regular meetings with the teachers, follows the progress of each student and goes along his teaching.
The school is acknowledged by the Irish Education Department as a T.E.F.L. preparation centre : a training intended for English-speakers who wish to teach English abroad. Atlantic language is a member of MEI-RELSA, an organism which gathers English schools in Ireland. In Germany, the school is acknowledged by the Bildungsurlaub.
Euridiom's opinion Located in the centre of Galway, Atlantic Language is an English institute which offers excellent equipments and a very good level of teaching staff. But its main virtue is to have been able to keep these traditional values from the Irish spirit, that is to say its conviviality and the know-how in welcoming people.
