Munich
  Germany

Munich, Bavaria’s capital, has become the second most visited city in Germany, partly because of its closeness to former less accessible destinations, like Prague or Budapest, but mainly because of the extraordinary wide range of possibilities it can offer. This large city has managed to keep a provincial appeal, offering its visitors picturesque streets, beautiful squares, gardens, numerous historic buildings and monuments : Marienplatz, with its impressive neoghotic townhall, in the tower which resounds the bell, which gives the time to the whole city 4 times a day. The famous Karlsplatz, which opens on the pedestrian precint. The Viktualienmarkt, one of the largest food markets in Europe, with outbursts of colours, tastes and aromas, which transform itself, in summer, into a huge beer terrace. The Virgin cathedral, the city’s most representative edifice. The Nymphenburg baroque palace, famous for its wonderful interior decoration and its surprising “ Beauties’ Gallery”. The English garden, undoubtedly one of the largest urban parks in the world, where you can practise all kinds of sports and relaxing activities, and which even has a nudist area. And of course, Hofbräuhaus, the most famous brewery in the world. All year long, Munich offers a multitude of activities, events and festivals. The city shelters a large number of cultural centres and very interesting museums and comes out as having an excellent music programme. And we could not forget the Octoberfest, the beer festival, which takes place at the end of September and at the beginning of October : one of the biggest traditional festivals in the world and an unforgettable experience for the lovers of this ancient drink. Place of refuge for culture and quality of life, always moving, both modern and medieval (to the point where we could sometimes think of it as a fairy-tale), Munich is an attractive city, to learn German here will delight you.
